I will update you on what happened recently.
The project was kind of dead, only MVM was working on it for a while. I have contacted MVM to become active once again on the project and we decided to undertake the whole project on our own, and pretty much dump all ideas and work with a very fresh concept that we will reveal in due time.
I am currently trying to create a NeoAxis wrapper for an Occlusion Culling tool inspired by Intel's Software occlusion culling solution. Which, is the final technical obstacle for us. As this optimization will allow us to to use immense worlds (would take you hours to days to explore 1 island). And i just gave you a hint on where the project is heading. We are abandoning the WOW-ish, MMO-ish concept.
I will try to be as brief as possible for now.
Generally, you should expect a new concept, you may take it as Carune taking a different path or a whole different thing being born out of Carune. Keeping this a 2-3 men team for now is also wiser as before we had many leadership and direction issues. Going back to the MMO-ish subject, i would like to say that creating a MMO is unrealistic and the reason why we are moving away from the old ideas is because we believe that we have a really unique and fresh idea, which can actually turn Carune into a real game, until now it was just a weekend hobby.
-Dedicated development logs and blog.
-More information (hints: 100% open world, bob the builder and dora the explorer)
*** MVM's Jan 16, 2015 progress
We are looking for a general programmer who is going to be help us develop the game features of the game as well as implement anything outside the game it self including the updater (except the website). As you probably already know we are all working for free, if you have free time, like and believe in the project, if you are studying something similar or you are a hobbyist game developer who knows how to program, if you are looking for projects to build your CV look no further.
Needless to say that you will be financially rewarded for any work you have done for us when funding has been secured.
We use an Agile workflow backed by bitbucker for issue tracking and source management solution. Most of the programmers who work in this project are professional programmers, thus we have some form of formal task management.
